We reluctantly left Nevis' ranch house this morning to embark on another long day of driving. I always hate leaving Galt. There's something so "home" about being there. I love the kids being kids like in the 1950's, "Go play outside and get some fresh air"...and they love it too!
But new adventures await - and cousins!! So we set off. We stopped at "The Olive Pit" and bought Olive Oil and jars of Olives as gifts for our hosts along the way. Mmmm... I didn't let the kids read (mean Mommy) today as I wanted them to look out the windows and see the changing scenery. (Oh, and I wanted company while I listened to Chronicles of Narnia.)
After we were sure our behinds had molded completely to the shape of the car seats, we finally reached Marc, DJ and Elise's house in Hillsboro OR (outside Portland). 11 hours.
We were phenomenally rewarded by a joyous reunion with 2 year old Elise who jumped and laughed and cracked us up. Such love between these cousins! Bella and Braeley read Elise her bedtime story, well stories. Elise thought it was hilarious to show off the book where she'd ripped off the pop up animal's heads. Kids were crying they were laughing so hard. Ok, totally worth the drive :-)
